I usually don’t comment much concerning these issues. Truth is, I have a hard time taming my filter. Being a mentor and advocate of our youth, and having several family members and friends with careers in the police force today often reminds me of my sanity – that we need to remain focused and stand together as these times begin to get closer to a serious bowling point. I don’t ever want to hear that one of my very own have been hurt due to the horrific behaviors of others who abuse their authority.
Now, if someone has never been through or had to deal with racism, and or, Police brutality, then they really have no right saying, “Can’t we all just get along?”
Growing up in Brooklyn, New York, I have during my teens and well into adulthood, had to deal with both references. I still deal with racist individuals today.
I’ve been physically beaten down by racist police during my early 20’s over false statements and mistaken identity. I just didn’t know my rights back then 😡. I can tell you honestly, that all I wanted was the life taken from each officer that was a part of that scene. Even thinking of it today, I’m feeling a way.
During that incident, I was called all sorts of nigger references and witnessed first hand, the evil in man. The rage and anger they had towards me was in their eyes – just because I was a black male.
So, each time I hear of senseless killings today, I get reminded and almost wish harm on the officers. It’s not to the point of hatred and wanting retaliation because I’ve matured and grown in knowledge over the years, but I’m reminded that the same thing almost happened to me had one officer not intervened and pulled me from that scene.
The fact is now we cannot continue to be ignorant when knowledge is given each and every day. We must utilize our minds more; think critically before responding so quickly, and most of all, pray. This is the only solid grounds that has and continues to assist me when I get into those feelings.
Now this doesn’t excuse those fools that have illegal intent as their careers…not that they deserve brutality, but there are hard working individuals – whether families or students who are also subject to those who don’t care about others. We need laws, and we need the police to do their jobs – serve and protect.
So as a people, educate yourself because knowledge is key. Until we do, no matter what we say or what we see, nothing is going to change. We are only given power to the evil powers that continues to lead the non-thinkers into the same trap.
Marshall Law is awaiting around the corner. It’s a black & white problem. But know that these things have to happen. Don’t just willingly give your rights away.
Peace and blessings always,
